There is a reason why Meridian, Idaho continues to land on the list of ‘America’s 50 Best Cities to live in!’ With abounding parks, great schools, newer homes, and family-friendly neighborhoods, Meridian is a special place for all those who call it home. As the second largest city in Ada County, and one of the fastest growing cities in the State of Idaho, it is easy to see why so many people choose to live in this safe and welcoming community. From its thriving economic growth to its easy access of world-class rafting, skiing, hiking, and camping, Meridian truly is Built for business, Designed for living.
Meridian sits at the center of the Treasure Valley, bordered by Boise to the east, Eagle to the north, Kuna to the south, and Nampa to the west, offering excellent transportation access throughout the region. Growing from 10,000 residents in the 1990s to over 100,000 today, Meridian has become one of the Valley’s premier cities, featuring destinations like The Village at Meridian, Roaring Springs waterpark, and ICOM, Idaho’s only medical school. The city also offers over 20 parks, including a large off-leash dog park, and is a gateway to outdoor recreation nearby, such as Lucky Peak Reservoir, Lake Lowell, the Boise River, and Eagle Island State Park, where residents can fish, boat, swim, hike, or enjoy picnics. With a blend of urban amenities and easy access to nature, Meridian is a thriving, family-friendly city in the Treasure Valley.
Like the rest of the Treasure Valley, Meridian enjoys a mild four seasons throughout the year. With being located in a high arid desert, the summers do reach average highs into the 90s, and upwards of 100 or higher for some stretches during the peak of summer. The winters are also mild, compared to other parts of the Pacific Northwest. Average lows during winter hover around 37 degrees, but record lows have hit as low as -6 degrees. Snowfall during winters average around five inches of precipitation each month, but does vary each year. Meridian’s mild seasons offer residents beautiful changes in the trees and scenery year-round that other places in the West don’t have the privilege of enjoying. Each season opens the door to different recreational activities for the whole family.
Thanks to the Treasure Valley’s economic growth, Meridian has reaped and enjoyed the benefits of sudden growth. With this continuing growth, there are job opportunities for almost any career or job path. To manage the growth throughout the city, construction and other blue collar jobs are always in need to keep up with the demands of the growing population. Due to the affluent suburbs around Meridian, retail jobs are abundant in new shopping centers, especially with the growth seen on Eagle Road and at The Village at Meridian. Tech jobs are also becoming more common around the city, with TSheets located on the border of Meridian and Eagle. TSheets was just named one of the fastest growing companies in the country, and just moved to its new HQ off of Eagle Road and Chinden Blvd in Eagle.
